Antonia Johnson

Director, PreK–12 Education Programs

Antonia Johnson, Ed.D., is the Director of PreK–12 Education Programs at SchoolHouse Connection, where she supports the organization’s practical assistance efforts to strengthen educational access, stability, and success for children and youth experiencing homelessness. In this role, she helps lead the PreK–12 team’s work to strengthen professional learning, technical assistance, quality assurance, and field-facing supports for schools, districts, state leaders, and partners.

Antonia brings more than 20 years of experience in K–12 education, leadership development, professional learning, federal programs, and education partnerships. She began her career as a classroom teacher and has since served in school district, state agency, higher education, nonprofit, and national education roles focused on strengthening systems and expanding opportunities for students, families, and educators. Her work has included leading statewide professional development, managing federal programs, coaching education leaders, designing adult learning experiences, and supporting district and state-level implementation efforts.

As a first-generation college graduate from a rural North Carolina community, Antonia brings a personal commitment to expanding access, opportunity, and belonging for students whose potential is too often constrained by systems, circumstances, or geography. She holds a Doctor of Education degree and a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and was selected as a North Carolina Principal Fellow, a scholarship program created to prepare exemplary educators for school leadership.

A lifelong North Carolinian from the southeastern coast, being near the water is her happy place. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, antiquing, thrift store shopping, and tending to her flowers and budding garden.
