Protect Funding for Homeless Children & Youth
The Education for Homeless Children and Youth program (EHCY) and the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) programs are the only two federal programs dedicated to children and youth experiencing homelessness.
While the House and Senate Appropriations Committees have proposed flat funding levels for EHCY and RHYA funding in the fiscal year 2025 appropriations cycle, there is no guarantee that the new Congress will abide by those numbers. In fact, Congress is considering significant cuts to federal funding this year.
It is critical that U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives hear directly from their constituents about the need to preserve funding for the EHCY and RHYA programs, so that today’s homeless children and youth do not become tomorrow’s homeless adults.
