“Dear Colleague” letters provide critical and time-sensitive opportunities for federal funding advocacy. They are requests from members of Congress asking other members of Congress to show their support for funding for certain programs.
Last year, over 70 members of U.S. House of Representatives signed a bipartisan “Dear Colleague” letter in support of funding for the McKinney-Vento Act’s Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) program and the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) programs, which helped secure FY2019 funding.
This year, U.S. Representatives Danny Davis (D-IL), John Yarmuth (D-KY), and Don Bacon (R-NE) are circulating a Dear Colleague letter to support EHCY and RHYA programs in the FY2020 budget. They need our help before March 26th so that more US Representatives will sign the letter.
